Golden Eagle Wrestling Club
The Golden Eagles Wrestling Club is moving from a private, for-profit wrestling club to a not-for-profit organization. This change will ensure the longevity of the wrestling club. Golden Eagle Wrestling Club was started in 2014 by Coach Scott McDoniel. The club has seen tremendous growth during the six years under his leadership. The club started with 22 wrestlers has become one of the largest wrestling clubs in Colorado with having 125 wrestlers last winter. By moving towards a governing board the club will ensure youth wrestling remains in the Highlands Ranch, CO for years to come. This will provide youth wrestling opportunities for all citizens of the South Metro region.
The official name of the program will change to the Golden Eagle Wrestling Club of Colorado. The organization has initiated the process by developing a board of directors and approving its bylaws. Stacey Alexander will become the Chairman of the Board, Coach Scott McDoniel will become Vice Chairman, Lindsey Parker will become the Club Treasurer, and Shanna Bevirt will become the Club Parent Liaison & Secretary. McDoniel is resigning as Head Coach & Director of Operations effective August 10th but will continue to advise and assist the new head coach of the wrestling club. Board members may serve up-to-six years on the board. In addition, the club will have a fundraising committee to continue to expand its local, corporate sponsorships to so to offer additional funding opportunities for its wrestlers including scholarships, equipment, and training costs.
The Golden Eagle Wrestling Club of Colorado should finalize the transition before the start of the Fall/Winter, 2020 wrestling season.
