Golden Eagle Wrestling Club
The Golden Eagle Wrestling Club won their first team title at the Colorado Youth Folkstyle Wrestling Championships! The Golden Eagles were formed in 2014 and it took five seasons to get to the top of the podium. The previous two years the wrestling team placed 3rd place. This year, the team blasted the competition. The Golden Eagles scored a team-high of 241.5 pts and beating out Cheyenne Mountain Wrestling Club, 2017 & 2018 Team Champions, by 40.5 pts. The Golden Eagles outscored the 3rd place team by 75 pts.
The Golden Eagles had 12 State Finalist and crowned 8 State Champions. Overall, the team had over 20 wrestlers place in a tournament that consisted had over 800 wrestlers competing for a chance to place. In addition, the Golden Eagles had two wrestlers place in the experienced division and one female place in the girl's division. In the Experienced Division, the Golden Eagles placed 26th out of 90 teams. They had four experienced and two rookie wrestlers come up short of placing and losing in the what is known as the "Blood Round" and missing the podium by one match. However, this is still a good day as these wrestlers finished much higher than the large majority of the wrestlers in those brackets. Overall, the Golden Eagles won a combined 108 matches over the two-day tournament.
