Coach Artist grew up in a wrestling family in Iowa. Like most Iowa youths he started wrestling at an early age and continued throughout high school and college. In High School he was a 4x State Placer and 2x State Finalist. He pursued his academic and athletic career at Iowa State University and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He spent 3 years at Iowa State, wrestling under legendary Head Coach Cael Sanderson before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. During his time at Iowa State, he was part of 3 Big 12 Conference Championships and 3 top 5 team finishes at the NCAA Division-I tournament. We’re really excited to have Mitch join the Golden Eagle coaching staff because he brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge and coaching experience to the club. Prior to joining the Golden Eagles his coaching experience includes being a health and fitness coach, training, mentoring and coaching youth athletes (ages 8-18) in all aspects of sports performance from strength and conditioning to mental preparation. He was the head high school wrestling coach at Horizon high school north of Denver for 4 years and he spent time coaching at the collegiate level.

“I really enjoy being part of young athletes' lives.” Said Artist “As a coach you get to guide, mentor, and foster their physical, mental, and emotional development. I’m looking forward to continuing to do that with the Golden Eagles.”

In his free time, he enjoys camping, fishing, grilling/smoking meat, and hanging out with his Bernese mountain dog, Zharah.
